LOVE IT! multiple features

I'm loving this light! With its magnetic back, kickstand and the ability to screw it on it really is versatile!. The app is VERY easy to use and connect. The softbox that's included is great for soft ligth, I've been using this light as practicals on film set, socials and I actually used it as key light for an IG reel. the color picker feature is great, I use it for skin tone matching. It gets the color info and you can then increase the decrease the power, while staying in the color/ hue of the skin.

Practical light

When I received the light I have my doubts about it because of the size. Then I started playing with it and I realized it is a good tool for my podcast. As well I was able to use it in a wedding event and in music event. The menu to change what kind of light you want is very friendly and easy to use. This is light that I will have with my gear all time.

I bought this light to test and I am impressed with the quality of the product, I loved the functions and quality of this product for the price of $40, the light comes with a diffuser that makes a big difference when recording my videos

the size is perfect to take anywhere and the quality is great

the numeric screen helps a lot when you're adjusting the temperature and opacity of the light and the fact that you can change the color of the light in the app is a wonderful advantage, I highly recommend it if you're thinking about creating content or streaming

Pretty great little light!

I’m a portrait and wedding videographer, and got this product to try out before an upcoming wedding to see if it could be something I integrate into my workflow. I liked several features that it had, so that’s what made me consider it enough to make the purchase.

The features of this product that stood out to me were: size, RGB color, and app control, so that’s what I concentrated my evaluation on.

Size: for how bright this light gets, functionality it has, and how long the battery lasts, this tiny thing packs a punch. I had it on solidly at 100% brightness and it lasted more than 3-4 hours, which is longer than I’d need to use at an event. It is also much lighter in weight than my other on-camera LED light panels+batteries, which helps lighten the load I carry all night.

RGB color: I liked that it also has an RGB function, so that I could use it in studio portrait work to add any color pop of background color I want, controlled by the unit or in the app. Really like this flexibility to be able to change the color to use in this way.

App: the app paired to the light without issue, is intuitive, and works pretty well to control the light. There are even “effects” that make the unit mimic various light behaviors to make it look like light from a candle, or lightning, a police car, etc.

I also like that it came with extra attachments such as the tripod -> cold shoe adapter, usb-a -> usb-c charging cable, and a silicon diffuser, which are all useful to have. The magnetic back and tilt stand aren’t super useful for what I would use this for, but I like that those bonuses are there.

Opportunities: I do wish the diffuser was larger than the light, so it could do more to diffuse the light output in a more flattering way.

Fingers crossed that they develop other light modifiers for this, such as barn doors or grids, to make this light even more versatile.

Awesome RGB light!!

Compact yet full of features. I love that it comes with a diffuser and an adapter to mount it to the camera. The magnet and kickstand add even more versatility to it. And even better, I found it useful to work on my motorcycle. I stuck it to my car and it worked great for a quick job. The buttons are simple enough to use and I found it very intuitive. Cool effects and the option to set it to any color. Definitely recommend!

Nifty light for a ton of uses

Ordered this on a whim, because I thought it could be handy for macro photography and portraits when there is little light. This thing despite the size punches above its weight class, imo. I used it on some macro work on coffee beans and was able to handhold and lower my ISO due to the amount of light being pushed out. In the photo I attached it to a mini tripod via the 1/4 screw mount and it worked great. The mini tripod does NOT come with the light though. It does however come with a diffuser and cold shoe mount if you wanted to mount it to the top of your camera.

I haven't used it for portraits yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't be a solid use case scenario. For the most part I'll probably use it for macro as a quick and easy bright continuous light

Great video light

This is a great video light for the camera work that I need to do. The light is powerful with good brightness and color tone adjustments. There's a stand to keep it separated from your other camera equipment which is nice. You can adjust the color tone from 2500 to 5000 so it gives enough range to adjust for the setting you need. You can change the actual color as well and then adjust to a specific one you want. The display on this is a bit small, but easy to read. The mount is also standard and should work with any rig you have. Should not be an issue. Overall great light for smaller lighting needs and would highly recommend.

Soft Light, Bold Possibilities in a small portable package

Its unique rubbery softbox makes the ZENIKO VS5 R stand out for effortlessly diffused light. It bathes subjects in soft, even light with fewer harsh highlights than typical LEDs. Color accuracy and FX modes are a bonus, and the multi-function button makes control straightforward (instructions included).

However, be prepared to pay a premium for this compact and niche solution. If you value a larger light source or need the sheer power and flexibility like ZHIYUN FIVERAY M20, this might not be the best fit. But if you want soft, flattering light with minimum fuss and maximum portability and don't mind the price the ZENIKO VS5 R is worth considering.

10 years ago this was just a dream

Remember using gels on all your hot burning lights? Remember RGBAW lights being only the realm of ARRI Skypanels at over $5K? This light is $40. Yes, $40 for RGBAW. What the heck? But yep here it is and it works great. AND it has ALL the effects you want from police lights to lighting to candle to fire. It has them. Plus has fixed lighting as well. Plus a diffusion cover. Plus built in battery. Plus a tripod mount. Oh and it can magnet to things. Absolutely fantastic. Now I'll say this...I own a video production company and we have everything from Luxli to Kino to Aputure RGBAW lights and have spent quite a lot. So when I'm making a comparison I know what I'm talking about. The one and only drawback of this light is...when it's cycling between colors on the program mode...as the colors fade between other colors or dim, it is not smooth. Instead it is a stepped dimming so you see the click between the colors or fades. So that's no good for filming. But everything else is exceptional. Note: it also states bluetooth capability but I have not tested that or any syncing if that's possible as I don't have a second light. Note 2: in my video, ignore their flickering display screen that is clearly opperating at a different hertz than my iPhone recorded it.

great portable led light!

wasn't expecting it to be this bright but wow!, this is so well built and so comfortable to carry around that I am ordering more. Not only it work for my camera setup but having these in the car or around in the house or boat is a big plus.

they come with a rechargeable battery, I have used it and haven't needed to recharge yet.

the diffuser is great too! For close-ups it does wonders. all different temps and brightness settings make this a must for any project.

Endless Possibilities

It's a very compact and portable light with endless possibilities. While it's only about 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches, the light is very bright and has endless possible settings. Unlike your typical low/med/high light, you can adjust the brightness and color temperature in so many ways. The iOS app works well and is functional. You can emulate many different kinds of light as such as a burning candle, police car, and etc. The silicone diffuser is great as well. This is a great compact portable light for selfies or recording vlogs. Highly recommended!

Great Light!

I've got a few little key lights for mounting on cameras, but this one is the winner. The light is nice and compact with a nice sturdy feel. It has a built in battery with a charge port and you can change the light intensity and color temp. These are pretty lacking in range, the color doesn't shift that far and the dimmest setting of the light isn't that low.

That said, what it lacks in versatility of lighting options it makes up for in just performance. It puts out a lot of light for such a tiny form factor and the silicone diffuser is perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Oh and it also has a little kickstand on the back if you want to use it as an underlight on a table or something.

Versatile Little Light

I’ve seen a lot of different versions of these throughout the years and this is definitely one of my favorites. The light itself is small and fits easily in your pocket. It has a silicone diffuser that creates a nice soft glow. Likewise, there’s warm white to cool white along with a full RGB color spectrum. The back of the light is magnetic and the bonus is it has a little built-in kick stand so it can set up on its own. And of course, there’s a standard tripod mount. Overall, this is such a useful light. Highly recommended.

Small and versatile

Let's get the cons out of the way...

The magnetic attraction on the back of the light is 4/10 strength at best - it won't feel like it's really secure when you snap it on, kind of unsatisfying. The temperature adjustments are not precise enough so it ended up being a little warmer or a little colder than the temp that I was running.

However, it's a really nice light. The diffusion on this light is fantastic, and it is so bright for being such a small device. It's lightweight, and easy to carry around, and it comes with a mount for your DSLR if you need a quick portable light option. It's a great accent light source too, if you just need to plop up a light behind you for vlogging or for whatever you're doing.

There's also a small handle on the back to help it hang in a tent, or as a kickstand, so it's super versatile!

Bright, portable light but not great battery life

I got this light after several of my coworkers mentioned it was difficult to see me during video calls due to the lack of lighting in this space. I wanted a portable light as I am often moving around the house at different times of the day. I also occasionally have to take video calls on my phone. A few observations:

* The light is very bright for how small it is and really improves the quality of lighting during a video call

* The light can be adapted from very cool white to a much warmer color

* The majority of light diffusion is from the rubber cover over the light which does diffuse the light but seems a bit gimmicky for the price

* The light charges via USB-C which is great but cannot work while plugged

* My biggest complaint is that I got just a little over an hour of use on a full charge which is not going to work very well with how many calls I have in a day. If you don’t care about battery life and portability is more important then this may not be an issue for you.
