So it took me a while to realize this light has an extremely unusual turn on sequence (see video). You tap the button once, then long press the button, then when the light flashes you rotate the intensity knob. Very odd. But, there's a very good reason. Unfortunately Zhiyun does not do a good job of telling you the reason. The reason is, say you put this light in your luggage and then it gets loaded onto a plane, and the very demure, very respectful luggage handlers uncharacteristically toss your luggage around like it owes them money. If the light gets turned on, you could literally burn down the plane. In the air. Then Captain Sum Ting Wong has got to figure out how to land a burning plane. You get the idea.
As far as the light, it does what I need it to do. It's extremely bright for a portable battery operated light. I rigged up an external USB C charger to get more out of it. Essentially it charges as it's running. I also bought a Wescott Bowens mount that lets me use it in a soft box. I have to refine this setup a little as I can't get the light pushed forward into the soft box enough. I like that I can throw this little light literally anywhere I need an accent or just some additional punch.
Here's what I don't like. The color temp knob is ok but honestly you're just eyeballing and guessing the color temp. I had to adjust to my eye using a monitor and I was able to match the ambient light. I like the Molus X100 because it has a digital read out of color temp. I wish it had that, but keep in mind this light is considerably cheaper than the X100.
Also not a fan of the proprietary ZY mount. Just make it a Bowens please. Don't buy the Zhiyun Bowen mount adapter, I have two broken ones. Literally the slightest bumps broke the mounts off both of them. Their mount also forces you to use the reflector which does not work well in a soft box as it gives you a hotspot. I've got a couple solutions rigged up that are doing ok.
I'd also like Zhiyun to include a proper light stand mount. Literally every other light in the world comes with a proper mount to tilt up or down.
With all that said, I do like the light and it has a proper place in my kit.

Holy cow is this thing bright. Controls for intensity and color make it easy to zero in on just the right lighting for your situation. The defuser helps to keep hot-spots from occurring.

Quality where it counts!
I recently purchased the CINEPEER CX100 LED Video Light, and I am so happy with my it. This little powerhouse packs a luminous punch with its compact size and impressive brightness.
The reflector was a bit tricky to put on but overall it was super simple once you play around with it, careful not to break the little unlocking knob mechanism!

Another great light
I have several of these Zhiyun lights- all excellent and this one is no exception. Solid build quality and the color temperature aligns perfectly with my other lights.
It lacks some of the features of the more expensive Molus lights, but if you don't need the app it's difficult to justify the price jump so this is a great option + it comes with a built in battery.
I didn't realize the battery wasn't removable this when I ordered, but it's no big deal. Worst case, if the battery dies, you can power it while charging using the USB-C slot.
Overall, glad to add this to my bag and I'm sure I'll get a ton of use out of it..

I used the included usb-c connector. This light is very very bright. You can adjust from white light to an amber hue to suit your needs.
The ZHIYUN CINEPEER CX100 is brighter than anything I own. If you’re inside, it’s like letting the sun in. It has a safety where you click the on button and then depress and hold. There’s literally an instruction sticker right next to the on button. If it was in a bag and inadvertently was depressed, it’s not lighting up. There is a build-in fan for cooling off heat generation. I can say that as ominous as the fan looks in size, it’s whisper quiet when it comes on. It’s pretty impressive. By the power charging slot, there’s a silicon cover that provides protection from dust and whatnot. Just above this are a pair of screw holes that could be used to attach it to a tripod if needed. The battery lasts longer than they claim from what I’ve found. However it depends on how high you have the light turned up.
This light is very portable and light weight. The ZHIYUN CINEPEER CX100 is just what I was looking for. My wife has been stealing it to inspect her work in refinishing antique furniture! She used to have to wait for a certain time of the day when the light was good to take her pictures too. Now she can use this light anytime. I did a documentary in Ukraine in 2022 that I wish I had a light like this.
The ZHIYUN CINEPEER CX100 is compact and relatively light weight.
Note that this model does NOT comes with a power adapter and the battery is NOT removable.
So you need to charge the battery to use it. No swapping batteries, or use an AC power adapter or a huge USB bank.
I could not find specifications from a power adapter, but from another light kit the adapter is 24v 5A, so anything like this should work.
The ZHIYUN CINEPEER CX100 comes with a mini reflector ZY mount (only for Zhiyun COB lights) and a diffuser. Honestly the diffuser is so close to the light and so small that makes NO difference.
ZHIYUN has different kits and different COB lights that include AC adapters and other things.
You can buy a soft box diffuser for this light for about $40, which I would recommend.
There is also an adapter to go from ZY mount to Bowens mount so you can use any Bowens mount diffuser you may already have. This will cost you about $40.
The light is about 2lb (say 1.56 on the description but for me was close to 2lb) and is not the smallest out there.

The Zhiyun CINEPEER CX100 Video Light is a no frills, simple to operate and portable light source that outputs industry standard color rendering (CRI) quality lighting.
The light has two available adjustments, one for intensity and the other for color temperature, each controlled by a mechanical dial. A button serves to power it on and off. Each dial acts as a rheostat for continuous adjustments between 0 – 100% of the brightness and from 2700k – 6500k temperature. The light lacks the precision of a digital reading for color temp, so matching to another light source will be an estimated value. The color temp dial has printed designations every 600 - 800k between 2700k and 6500k and the brightness dial at 20% increments.
Zhiyun states that the CX100 has a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 96+, which is phenomenal and assures that colors are recorded accurately. As an example, this light would be an excellent choice for copying artwork for catalog reproduction, or for skin tones in portraiture. And the same for a TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) rating of 97+. TLCI is a standardization created in the EU; a standard adopted by television and film studios throughout the world. So, if you’re shooting productions for Netflix or NBC using LED lighting, the CINEPEER would match the color standards expected in those industries. In other words, Zhiyun has manufactured a device that outputs light whose color rendering is of the highest quality standards.
The Zhiyun CINEPEER CX100 100W Video Light is a handy, light-weight, simple and accurate light source that is portable enough to be carried anywhere. It has its utility as a means of providing artificial light in “bulk” that can be bounced, diffused, shone at or through a modifier, or what have you. With the included diffuser attached, in a studio-esq environment, it puts out a pleasant but contrasty light that I would, in most cases, fill or bounce from a card; or use it as a fill light. For the included pictures, a light is being bounced off the ceiling above as fill. It has a built-in cooling fan that activates automatically when needed. It comes supplied with a charging cable, user manual, the aforementioned silicone diffuser and a sophisticated, very efficient reflector. Besides being powered by the supplied high-capacity battery, the CX100 is capable of 24V DC continuous power with the appropriate adapter, sold as an option. Zhiyun does offer the CX100 light in complete packages as well.
My one criticism of the CX100 is that the light is provided without a cover to protect the COB LED during storage or transport. The only option is to leave on the reflector and diffuser when not in use, making it more awkward to fit into a case. Seems remiss to me.
Another criticism I have generally as it applies to a number of LED light manufacturers that I’ve experienced: why is it not possible to include with the light an adjustable light stand adapter? Screwing the light directly onto a light stand by use of the 1/4" threads allows for only two adjustments, the up/down and around of the stand itself, but no tilt for aiming the light.

Daylight in my Hand whenever I want
This light is super awesome. I bought it thinking it looked dumb and might not be that helpful. I was wrong. I have used it daily since I got it.
It provided lighting from the 2700 brightness switch is the yellow light all the way up to the 6500 brightness. I like the 6500 brightness cause it’s the closest thing to natural like.
I charged up the light out of the box and used it. I found that I had a hard time turning on the device but it was easy to figure out. You have to press the on button and then long press the same on button. I guess this is a safety feature so you don’t turn on the light by mistake.
I have used the light to take pictures for my eBay listing. It gives me the best pictures. The light holds great in my hand and seems to be well balanced. The battery holds a charge for a long time. I have no used the light for long periods but there is a fan to help the light not over heat.
It uses a type C plug. It also will screw into a tripod if needed. I would saw this is a good buy and helpful for anyone who takes pictures, videos or does anything social media.

Portable Yet Powerful!
This thing is extremely powerful for its size! It’s allowed me to step up my game and provide much higher quality in the overall look of my videos without the need for a huge investment in equipment. I assumed portable lights were "good enough" but didn't realize how much it made my videos look amateur. This definitely makes the videos look much better while still being easy enough to carry anywhere and use without much technical equipment and know-how.
First of all, this thing emits a tremendous amount of light for its size! When I was first testing it in my office, my colleague walked in and said, “Oh my!” in surprise at how bright it was. We both didn’t expect that much light to come from such a compact device. The light can be easily adjusted using the side knobs, though. You can change the temperature easily from cool to warm and the range is impressive, same with the brightness level.
The accessories are way better and of higher-quality than I expected too. The reflector is light but made of metal and connects right on to the device with a twist and lock system. It has a little lever lock on it to ensure that it’s sturdy. It cannot be removed and it won’t budge when locked; I tried. But it can easily be unlocked and removed by shifting the lever. With just the reflector, you get a nice, targeted light.
Adding the diffuser allows for a nice softer glow. I was worried about what the diffuser would be made of since I’ll be traveling a lot with it but it’s made of softer rubber and so far has withstood some quick stuffing into my bag with other equipment. In fact, the whole system feels sturdy for what you get. I initially hoped that it came with a bag or case (so far that’s my only con with the product). But really, the more I use it the more I see it can stand some wear and tear and can just be put in the bag and go without much worry. The diffuser is pliable. The reflector is made of sturdy metal so I’m not worried about bending (I was worried about breaking or bending it when twisting it on the device but it’s definitely strong enough to withstand some force and pressure). The light itself is around two pounds but easy enough to carry. It has a lip around the glass-encased LED for some protection and the fan behind is covered with a thick grate to avoid many obstructions from getting in while still allowing venting (though I still recommend and use a bag just in case if you have lots of smaller objects or clothes in your bag where fuzz or other very small objects can get into the fan area).
Speaking of fans, I was also worried at the potential noise level of the fan but so far in my use, this thing is VERY quiet. Minimal sound comes from the fav even on high. The light doesn’t get too warm; only very close, within two inches do you feel it emit any warmth at all.
The bottom has two places to screw in universal accessories, so you don’t need to decide between one or another . It’s also where the charging ports are in case you want to charge while filming (both USB-C and a DC 24V, covered by a rubber flap). However, I found the battery to be slightly better than advertised, getting 10-20% more in use so far, so you may not find as much need to be tethered to additional juice unless you're shooting with the brightest setting for more than 30-40 min.
In all, I’ve found this to be a terrific system that’s helped add a great deal of quality to my videos! It’s portable, which can sometimes mean sacrificing some power and quality. But I honestly feel I have both now with this system.
