ZOSI C298 4MP Dual-Lens(2MP+2MP) Wired WiFi PT Plug-in Security Camera Outdoor - to trap raccoons!

ZOSI C298 4MP Dual-Lens(2MP+2MP) Wired WiFi PT Plug-in Security Camera Outdoor, 360 View Pan/Tilt Camera, Human/Vehicle Detect, Color Night Vision, Spotlight Siren,Two-Way Talk, Memory Card Storage

I am developing a plan to evict a family of raccoons that have moved into one of our homes.

I ordered a Trail Camera to help keep track of their schedule - coming and going. And to follow up later after the access holes are closed.

I'll place the ZOSI C298 4MP Dual-Lens(2MP+2MP) inside the attic facing the trap where they currently reside. That way it will notify me when the trap needs to be emptied.

The ZOSI C298 4MP Dual-Lens(2MP+2MP) Wired WiFi PT Plug-in Security Camera is perfect for my raccoon eviction!

Dual-Lens Camera with Strong AI Tracking and Color Night Vision

This isn't a standard single camera. At first glance, I could see it combines a fixed bullet lens on top with a pan-tilt-zoom dome lens below, both rated at 4 megapixels. I pulled the specs from the product's quick start guide and the manufacturer's website, which confirm it supports AI human and vehicle detection, has color night vision using warm white lights, and includes a built-in siren and a spotlight with blue and red colors. It provides robust outdoor security and can run on either Wi-Fi (2.4GHz band) or Ethernet. As it doesn't support PoE, I linked it to my Wi-Fi. I can store footage on a microSD card up to 256GB or use cloud storage. The SD card slot is easy to access on the bottom of the camera unit, covered by a thick rubber lid; the reset button is right next to it.

Along with the camera unit itself, the package included a power adapter rated for DC12V/2A with a very long cable, mounting screws, a template, and a small tool to adjust the angle of the top bullet camera. The white camera body feels solid, with a hard plastic bracket for mounting that gives me two options: wall or ceiling. The Ethernet port has a white wire with a little waterproof cover. Two antennas pop up from the base for better Wi-Fi reception. I can actually hide the Ethernet port inside the camera for even better protection from the elements, but I don't use the port as I have an outdoor Wi-Fi extender.

I set it up using the ZOSI Smart app from the Google Play store. I scanned the QR code on the back of the camera, entered my Wi-Fi password, and it connected in just a few minutes. I can control the pan-tilt function of the lower camera through the app. The human tracking works flawlessly, showing a frame around each person it captures as they move. The two-way audio with the built-in mic and speaker is clear enough for talking with people near the camera. I always use the color night vision mode - the built-in lights are bright enough for that.

The camera is rated IP66 according to the user guide. I don't use paid cloud storage; instead, I use my inserted SD card for recording. I also have the Windows client installed, which seems to be called either AVSS or ZOSI Network Video Monitor. The interface is different from the Android app, but I can access the same functions and settings more or less. I like that I can switch between the desktop and mobile interfaces.

Wasn't sold on the design at first, but it's grown on me!

Not going to lie, when I first received this product, I was a pretty skeptical of the design itself. Like, what purpose would I have for a static front-facing camera and a 360 PTZ mounted on the same platform? Well, I found out that's actually super nice for front doors. When mounted near the front door, you can have the camera facing the driveway while the PTZ is looking at the entryway up to your door and a bit of the door itself. Best of both worlds! Both cameras are 2MP and look identical in resolution and picture quality. The night vision is on par with other security cameras I've used near this price point.

Overall, I think it's a good value for your money!

Affordable camera with great features

Really nice camera overall. Housing and all bracketry are completely made of plastic but it is sturdy. I like that it has an activity light on the network connection so you can verify at the camera if you are getting POE/network connectivity. Works well with the ZOSI NVR I have. PTZ is precise and smooth. I like the ability to have a fixed camera along with separate movable camera lens. Very versatile camera. Also has sound and built-in memory slot capabilities for local recording. Antennas are a little stiff to initially rotate upward so be careful so as to not break or disconnect.

Security camera

Needs better instructions! Outside of that was easy to install. Took about 20 mins. The app was easy to set up. The rubber piece that covers the SD slot does not close all the way. It doesn’t matter what you do, just give up, it’s not happening. The quality of the pictures in the app are in color and really decent. The motion detection does not follow you. We have tried multiple times and unless you manipulate the camera from the app it does not follow as it advertises. All in all it’s not a bad camera for home security.
