It didn't work as expected

The box works but it sounds choppy and of very poor quality. I also bought a microphone and I could never hear it besides following all the steps and downloading the drivers.

I give up

Downloaded the recommended latest drivers from their web site, then tried the Beats program. After over an hour trying to figure it out, I finally got my guitar levels to show up, but couldn’t get it to playback. And, when I had the guitar sound pass thru to the speakers, it sounded awful, with a crackling sound.

Did more research, viewed some videos, but of course the videos made no sense, especially the one on their web site!

I absolutely give up!

I have no idea why doing something as simple as recording your guitar output to your PC via USB needs to be so difficult!

All programs out there that they call DAW are beyond confusing, and just getting thru the initial setup is a nightmare.

The one thing about this device is that it sure is durable! Even though it’s just made of plastic, it took some VERY hard strikes with a hammer to damage it (see photo)

Very good starter product

This Audio interface is exactly what i thought it would be. It’s very good in quality for its price. The size is compact so easy for moving or relocating. The instructions manual could be a little bit better. Make sure yall look up a video on how to set it up i was having trouble at first getting the interface to pop up as an ASIO on FL studio. You have to register the serial number to an account you have to set up. The sound comes out pretty good.

Replaced my Focusrite for everything with good performance

It's similar to my older Focusrite but without the build or performance quality issues. It sounds excellent and is very responsive. I would have chosen this option instead if I had known how good it was overall—definitely a 10 out of 10. Since I work with video and audio frequently, I can really appreciate the audio. Very nice. Raw sound & computer latency are good during editing/recording/playback in every software (r9 5900x + 48gb 3200mhz ram).

Very good

Really, for the price, it's a good interface. For a budget-friendly device, it's not professional-grade, but it does a great job of recording. At least in my case, I use it to record my electric guitar and use distortion, overdrive, high-gain amp effects, and other things. You can get a 10ms latency with the default block size. I even have a 5ms latency on my system! That's true, by lowering the block size. I've seen a lot of people say it records very quietly, and the truth is, I don't have any problems with that. In fact, the input where my guitar is connected has the gain at 0; I haven't even turned it up. I just turn up the volume in Amplitube 5 and then add more in Reaper if I want, and it feels like a real amp.

Clearly, the configurations, setup, and installation aren't for a novice, and if you're a novice, you should be very patient and read a lot. You can rely on artificial intelligence to guide you through the installation and configuration of everything. Perhaps poor user practices cause this interface to break down very quickly. Don't activate phantom power if you're not powering anything that requires it, don't turn up the input volume all the way. You can listen without using the rear outputs or the front output, just through USB via the PC's audio.

I hope my interface lasts a long time.

Crap. Don't buy.

Just buy a focusrite scarlet and download reaper. There are YouTube videos to walk your through setting it up.

Proposition 65 warning...

At the time I purchased the M-Audio M-Track Solo, there was no warning present. The manual didn't even have the warning. But, when I received the product, low and behold, there it was, on the back of the box. I have attached a pic. Diisononyl phthalate is the listed chemical. Just writing this "review" as a warning to others who would rather not buy/own items with cancer warnings. I have no idea if the actual product is good or not. I returned it. The one star is for the company not caring enough to include the warning in the description and/or the manual, or at least providing a pic of the box with the warning.

Broken Voltage Inverter

I've been using the M-TRACK SOLO for about 6 months and it has been working great until now. For a low price you get great sound and recording quality, but cheap gear breaks easily. I plugged it in today and out of nowhere I got the red lights of death, did some quick research and found out that the SGM3204 voltage inverter used in the product breaks easily. Once this breaks its impossible to fix unless you tear the whole interface apart and replace the part yourself. It really sucks because it was a great product, but now it is totally unusable.

C.Hill

Don't. Nope.

This device has a few major problems/design flaws. That combined with the underwhelming 16 bit, 48000 Hz audio capability limit make it a 100% NOPE!

1. The huge gain spike from almost nothing at 9 to clipping mess at 9.2 is insane.

2. The "2x Red Light Failure" thing is real, common, and utterly bull-shtuff. Something to do with the 48v phantom power? DO NOT turn it on. So consider it as a device with no phantom power because if you use it, it's going to break.

3. The drivers work alright for recording with a D.A.W. but the Windows part of them lists 24 and 32 bit rates the device can not even do, and the recording one will reset itself to 32 bit 44100 Hz, over and over no matter what you change it to. Just weird. I've asked "support" about it a few times and always get a robo-response about removing but not reinstalling the driver (IE: remove it and let the built in Windows driver install) which breaks recording in a D.A.W. Then when I respond to that "suggestion" they just ignore and mark ticket as "solved".

M-Audio has really gone down the tubes in the last few years, from a fairly reputable company to Chinese junk peddlers with zero support.

Works great 5/5

Bought it with my new mic and it's great. Adjustable dials are perfect for all my small volume changes. Recording sounds amazing honestly haven't had a clearer recording session. Definitely would recommend, amazing upgrade from my usb mic setup.

Great Starter Interface

This thing works great. I am a big fan of everything about it. It's simple and easy to use. Great for laying down scratch tracks. Perfect for beginners who do not want to be overwhelmed by all the bells and whistles of the higher end models. Plug and play. I use it mainly for recording scream based vocals.

Red Clipping Lights Won’t Go Away

I received this as a gift. I love the ease of setup. Too bad I never got it to work. Aaron from tech support was prompt, professional and friendly. I sent this back for repair. It took a month to get it back and as soon as I plugged it in…. the red lights reappeared. I’m just going to toss it and try another brand.

No pro tools

Great for the price

Sound is good, nobs feel smooth and nice. The whole body is plastic but good quality. For this price it's an amazing investment, especially for beginners.

Makes expensive Mics sound bad.

This makes my SHURE sm7b 400$ mic sound terrible. But good for a cheaper set up as a beginner.

Was worried, now I'm ecstatic

I was really worried when I first opened the package and installed it, because the first thing I heard when I plugged in my microphone and instrument was the buzzing that a lot of people were experiencing from a ground loop hum. However, I was able to remedy this by using two different types of cables.

Previously, I was using a 1/4 to xlr cable to connect the microphone and a 1/4 to 1/4 jack cable to connect my guitar, and I was getting that infuriating buzzing/ humming.

Now, as seen in the picture, I am using a male xlr to female xlr cable to connect my microphone and a new 1/4 jack cable. This has eliminated any hum that I was experiencing before hand.

That being said, a chain is as strong as its weakest link. You can't expect clear audio from a 5 dollar karaoke microphone, and great tone from a $60 guitar. Musical equipment is an investment, and the more you spend now, the less you should have to spend in the future.

The monitor is quiet with headphones with high impedance, but I honestly expected that. It is a $50 audio interface. This is made for people looking for cheap starter equipment, so the emphasis is on the usage of starter equipment. If you plug in your Sennheiser HD 58x headphones, it will be quieter than if you plug in a pair of Beats Wireless Studio.

It works well with Windows 10, and I haven't had any issues. Just make sure that "Line 1/2" is set as your default device. Windows 10 doesn't automatically switch default microphones when you plug in a new device.

Overall, I think it's a fantastic product for its price and I would personally recommend it to anyone looking for a introductory piece of equipment for either recording podcast, or recording music. I am very happy with my purchase.

Fantastic audio interface for $50!!!!

Just bought this today and I think this is a fantastic audio interface. The preamps sound really nice on it. And unlike other interfaces I've tested in this pricerange, ie the UM2, this doesn't have hiss. I think overall this is a fantastic interface. My only qualms are 3 things. First it feels cheap. When you tap the side of it, it definitely feels like everything is made of plastic. Though it has a certain charm to it and I don't know why. The second is that the headphone outputs are a bit weak on it. So if you have something with high OHM, ie Sennheiser HD6xx or DT770 250 OHM, you're going to need to use something like an M50X or a Sony MDR 75706. But other than that, a fantastic audio interface. I hope this stays $50 as it helps solve a problem many are having with finding good solid interfaces - on a budget.
